Silvicultural Options for Interdisciplinary Decision Making

 

Opening Symposium and Poster Session:


Topics
The topics or themes to be covered in the symposium will include:
1) interactions between major influences (drivers) of forest management decisions and
2) silvicultural applications of early results of current experiments focused on managing for diversity.

Examples of resource management challenges for the field tours and problem solving workshops and the summarizing Management Options Forum are:

1. Thinning alternatives to promote diversity in young plantations,
2. Integration of a landscape perspective into stand management decisions,
3. Managing Douglas-fir forests for high yield AND amenities,
4. Management of NW forests affected by Swiss Needle Cast,
5. Management of oak savannas,
6. Establishing and managing mixed species plantations.
