Dr. Jim Bowyer, professor and chair emeritus, University of Minnesota, Department of Bio-based Products (formerly Wood & Paper Science); chairman, Minnesota Bio-fiber Council; chairman, Tropical Forest Foundation; associate, Dovetail Partners, Inc.

Presentation Description

Dr. Bowyer discusses initiatives available to position Oregon's forest sector to maintain a strong presence in a globalizing economy. This discussion compares Oregon's situation and response to that of other states and place it in a national and global context. Dr. Bowyer also discusses potential roles for biomass energy and improved university research and outreach programs in wood products innovation.
