Biographical Information about Jon Martin

Jon R. Martin is Assistant Director of Resource, Inventory and Monitoring for the Pacific Northwest Region of the US Forest Service and program leader of the Northwest Forest Plan interagency monitoring program. Prior to his current assignment, Jon has served as an ecologist at the national, regional, sub-regional, and forest levels; district ranger on 3 forests in Oregon and California; and in various forest and district staff positions. He received a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology (Washington State University, 1979) and an M.S. degree in Forest and Range Ecology (Arizona State University, 1989). His interests include improving decision-making through application of adaptive management principles, integrating and improving the effectiveness of inventory and monitoring activities, and learning how to share information resources across multiple boundaries.
