Biographical Information about Richard Haynes

Richard Haynes received his B.S. and M.S. in Forest Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D in Forest Economics from North Carolina State University. He is Program Manager with the U.S. Forest Service at the Pacific Northwest Research Station in Portland, Oregon, where he has worked for almost 30 years. He is responsible the Forest Service’s social, utilization, and economics research in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. His own research involves both developing the analytical methods used to make long-term projections of market activity and than using those models in Forest Service planning and policy analysis efforts including determining the economic impacts of habitat protection for the spotted owl and for Columbia/Snake salmon. He has extensive experience working on various ecoregion assessments and has been responsible for the RPA Timber Assessments serving as the technical editor since 1982.
