Biographical Information
about Peter Eldred
Peter Eldred has been the GIS coordinator for the Aquatic Riparian
Effectiveness Monitoring team (AREMP) since
2002. In 1978 he received his BS from the University of New Hampshire
in Forest Management, with a minor in
Soil Science. In 1982 he completed a Computer certificate program
from University of Massachusetts. He
received his MS in Forest Planning from Oregon State University
in 1988. In 1981 he worked for a forestry
consultant in western Massachusetts managing land for small private
forestland owners. He was the forest analyst
and economist for the Siuslaw National forest 1989 to 1991. In
1992 and 1993 he was on an exchange program in
Australia for 6 months with the department of Conservation and
Environment. There he managed all the GIS
activities in a 2.9 million acre region of Victoria that included
all state and federal lands. He was the GIS
coordinator on the Siuslaw National Forest 1995 to 2000. Before
joining the AREMP group he worked with the
Natural Resource Information systems (NRIS) group to develop tools
to assess the hydrologic condition of
watersheds.
