Symposium Description
This two-day
symposium will highlight opportunities for enhancing the contribution
of Oregons forest sector to the states economy and examine
the sectors relationship to global forest sustainability.
Participants will get a fresh look at future opportunities for Oregons
forest sector from researchers who to global forest sustainability.
Symposium presenters
will examine state, national and global forest conditions in terms
of their economic, environmental and social sustainability. An important
focus will be the role of Oregons forest sector in the global
economy and the impact of global competition.
The USDA Forest
Services 2003 National Report on Sustainable Forests for the
United States will be highlighted, along with the Oregon Board of
Forestrys 2003 Forestry Program for Oregon and the Oregon
Business Plans Forestry Initiative.

in economic growth and sustainable development in Oregon, including
public officials; business, community and environmental leaders;
forestry and other natural resource professionals, academics, economists

Symposium Fee
The cost of
the symposium is $100. This includes the cost of instruction, handout
materials, lunch each day and refreshment breaks.
Arrangements
All sessions
will be held in Miller Hall, at the World
Forestry Center, located 4033 SW Canyon Rd., in Portland,
Oregon. There is no hotel near the World Forestry Center. Close
hotels are either downtown Portland or on HWY 217. The World Forestry
Center is on the MAX light rail at the Washington Park Station.
Staying at a hotel located on the MAX light rail is advantageous
such as the Doubletree Hotel Portland - Lloyd Center. More information
on alternative lodging is available on the Portland
Oregon Visitors Association.
